Young Barbers Initiative

The Young Barbers Initiative (YBI) prepares high school students for career success and community impact through professional barbering training, business ownership insights, and leadership skills. Specifically designed for students from underserved communities, our program offers a flexible, customizable approach that fits in-school classes, after-school programs, weekend intensives, or summer camps.

YBI empowers students with practical skills, entrepreneurial knowledge, and leadership development, paving the way for financial independence and personal growth. Our mission is to equip students with the tools they need to thrive in their communities and beyond.

Curriculum

Our program focuses on four key components:

  1. Professional Barbering Skills

    Students will master haircutting, styling, and grooming techniques, and will receive a professional barber toolkit upon completion, valued at $600. They will also gain hands-on experience by applying their skills in real-world settings.

  2. Entrepreneurship Training

    Learn the business of barbering! From forming an LLC to managing your own barbershop, we provide the entrepreneurial knowledge you need to succeed.

  3. Community Engagement and Leadership

    Through leadership training and community service projects, students will develop the confidence to be advocates and positive voices in their communities.

  4. Financial Literacy

    Understanding personal and business finances is essential for success. Our program includes lessons on financial management, budgeting, and planning for long-term financial independence.

Outcomes

By the end of the program, students will:

  • Students will graduate with a full set professional barber tools to immediately get to work
