Shower and Shave For Dignity
The "Shower and Shave for Dignity" initiative aims to restore dignity and provide valuable skills to New York City's homeless population and justice-involved juveniles. Through mobile units, we deliver essential hygiene services to the homeless and offer barbering vocational training to justice-involved individuals, fostering community, self-respect, and hope.
In recent years, homelessness in New York City has reached the highest level since the Great Depression of the 1930s, with over 80,000 people experiencing homelessness each night. Additionally, over 1,500 to 2,000 justice-involved juveniles in New York City annually. A key link between homelessness and justice-involved individuals is the cycle of instability. Justice-involved juveniles are more likely to experience homelessness due to challenges in reintegration, such as limited access to housing, jobs, and support. The Shower and Shave with Dignity is here to support both.

Benefits & Impact
Supporting Justice-Involved Juveniles
The "Shower and Shave for Dignity" program offers significant benefits to justice-involved juveniles by providing them with vocational training in barbering. Through this program, participants gain valuable skills that open doors to career opportunities, promoting financial independence and self-sufficiency. The mentorship component fosters personal growth, helping them build confidence, discipline, and a sense of purpose. By addressing the socio-economic challenges these individuals face, the program provides a positive path forward, encouraging community reintegration and reducing the likelihood of recidivism. Ultimately, it offers a second chance for a stable and successful future.
Supporting NYC’s Homeless Populations
The "Shower and Shave for Dignity" program provides vital benefits to New York City's homeless population by offering essential hygiene services through a mobile barber shop. Homeless individuals gain access to free haircuts, which restore a sense of dignity, self-worth, and personal care. The mobile service, traveling to various locations across the city, ensures that these services are easily accessible and adaptable to their needs. This program promotes not only improved hygiene but also a sense of community and hope, helping individuals regain confidence and self-respect during difficult times.

Support
With your contribution, we can provide these individuals with dignity, skills, and a fresh start.
We are in the early stages of fundraising for the Shower and Shave for Dignity initiative, and we need your support to make it a reality. Your donation will help us secure essential supplies, obtain permits, and collaborate with local officials to repurpose a Rikers Island bus as a mobile barber shop. We are also partnering with community-based organizations to directly impact both the homeless population and justice-involved juveniles. Please consider donating to help us bring this transformative program to life.
